Partners
Most end-of-life tyres enter our recycling system through tyre shops. When tyres are replaced, the old tyre becomes the property of Finnish Tyre Recycling Ltd, and tyre shops are not entitled to hand over tyre material to external parties.
The work carried out by tyre shops forms a solid foundation for tyre recycling and for using tyre material as a recycled material in the circular economy. We believe that recycling works best when consumers barely notice it at all.
Our expertise lies in recycling tyres and using them as recycled material. Even this work cannot be done alone. We are supported by a strong network of partners, with whom we continuously develop tyre recycling and recovery.
Transport partners
Finnish Tyre Recycling Ltd is responsible for all collection transport of end-of-life tyres. We are supported in transport operations by a network of seven transport partners, who are responsible for collecting tyres regionally across Finland.
Reuse and recovery operators
Finnish Tyre Recycling Ltd has concluded framework agreements with companies specialising in the reuse and recovery of end-of-life tyres.
These companies are identified by a Runkomies card. It authorises them to work on the premises of Finnish Tyre Recycling and its partners to separate tyres that have not reached the end of their useful life, tyres suitable for retreading, and tyres suitable for other recovery either as such or after processing, from other tyre material and to make use of them.

Authorities
In Finland, the authority supervising the implementation of producer responsibility is the Finnish Licensing and Supervision Agency, formerly the Pirkanmaa Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment. It maintains the producer register and publishes annual recycling statistics on new and retreaded tyres placed on the market, as well as tyres collected and delivered for recovery.
TYNK
Producer organisations operating in different sectors formalised their cooperation on 29 January 2015, when the Advisory Board of Producer Organisations, TYNK, was established. Its tasks include joint advocacy for producer organisations, legislative and operational issues related to producers’ activities, and the organisation of shared information and training projects for the sector.
In 2025, TYNK was involved in developing the content of the Waste Act as it is being reformed into a Circular Economy Act, through the circular economy law working group and producer responsibility section appointed by the Ministry of the Environment. Maija Hirsmäki serves as TYNK’s Secretary General. The chairmanship rotates annually from one producer organisation to another.
Terminals
We maintain seven terminals operated by Stena Recycling for the intermediate storage of tyre material. With the help of regional terminals, we can direct tyre material to recovery as close by as possible, without unnecessary transport. The terminals only accept tyre material from Finnish Tyre Recycling Ltd’s own transports.
Procurement of services
When procuring services, Finnish Tyre Recycling Ltd takes into account the service provider’s expertise, quality, delivery reliability and price. The service provider’s reputation and independently verified competence as a provider of the service in question also play an important role.
When the service concerns a larger entity that requires the provider to make a significant investment in relation to the overall service, upcoming service needs will be put out to tender. Information about this will be published on the Finnish Tyre Recycling Ltd website and through the company’s external communication channels.
